Open letter to Ethiomedia

From Feyissa Woyessa, Sweden.

Ethiomedia`s coverage and reporting of issues related to the crisis in the former Kinijit and other subsequent political developments have led many of us to doubt your genuinity and objectivity.

The following two points in the recent piece on ato Temesgen Zewdie in which it is stated he is in trouble for raising the issue of Ethiopian land Meles Zenawi has awarded to the Sudan, illustrate the website’s deviation from objective analysis and reporting.

1. Depicting ato Temsegen Zewde as a genuine opposition figure as opposed to the other rejected loyal opposition figure Professor Beyene Petros. It is well known that ato Temsegen Zewde has been serving the TPLF in various ways. He was among those opportunist politicians who have abandoned and betrayed the struggle and joined Meles Zenawi`s herd of cadres or the so called parliament at the critical moment. By doing so he has helped to legalize the illegitimate assembly, stabilize and strengthen Meles Zenawi`s hold on power. He has lost the competition to be Meles Zenawi`s most loyal servant to his friend and another opportunist ato Ayele Chamiso. Meles Zenawi has selected Ato Ayele Chamiso as his most loyal servant and relegated ato Temesgen Zewde. Losing the race, ato Temesgen has joined another loyal opposition in the making led by Ms. Birtukan Mideksa. Ato Temesgen`s betrayals and services to Meles Zenawi are of recent happenings many remember him for his deception and intrigues. I hope that Ethiomedia is aware of ato Temesgen`s political career and should have avoided the blunder in its coverage of the person.

2. Ethiomedia`s assertion that the former Kinijit was divided into 2 groups, namely Andinet (UDJP) and Genbot.  It is unfortunate that the struggle has suffered set back as a result of the division within the former Kinijit. Though the editors of Ethiomedia would not like to mention, the group led by Engineer Hailu Shawel is one of the factions which is trying to reorganize itself. One can not deny the fact that this group has the longest history of struggle against the regime of Meles Zenawi and better and well known among Ethiopians in the country. To ignore or sideline this group is not commensurate with the guiding principles of the pro-Ethiopian and democracy websites like Ethiomedia. The Ethiomedia that has devoted unproportionatly much space and time to the coverage of the TPLF man Siye Abraha, should have covered the pro-Ethiopian and unity forces led by Engineer Hailu Shawel. The way Ethiomedia is covering the democratic and pro-Ethiopian forces is biased and does not help the struggle for democracy, freedom and justice in Ethiopia.

  1. Behind the pretencious appearance and the cliam as champion of justice the main objective of ethiomedia has been and remains to be helping forces that working towards perpetuating the woyane regime.

  2. Selam Ato Feyissa Woyessa,

You have hit the nail on the head, but softly and politely. I will be a little blunt. Ethiomedia is opertaing as that of the proverbial TROJAN HORSE. I, myself was duped into believing that it was attempting to function as a fair and balanced pro democracy and pan-Ethiopian medium. My own gulliablity was the cause of my shorsightedness. Fortunatley, Ethiomedia itself helped me glean to uncover it strategic motives. As the ancient Greece warriors discovered in their 10 years seige of Troy,to defeat the enemy, they devised a military plan of action which can easily decive and help them destroy the enemy by erecting wooden horse hollowed inside to hide their elite warriors. The Trojans, excited and full of trumph were duped BIG TIME!!As they say, the rest is left for history. Those of us who do not learn from past history or in Ethiomedia’s case its recent activities, will repeat the same mistake again and again. What makes this website very diffcult to pin down as closeted woyane/TPLF, as that of for example Elias kifle’s ER, is its smooth and glib talkers/writers so called “scholars and philsopher kings”. As you mentioned in your piece , Ethiomeda’s True colour started to apear in the aftermath of CUD intraparty crisis. It was magnified yet again to rehabilitate Ato Seye. In fact it turned to unofficial organ of the BB GROUP as the main source and organizing medium to all other offshoot web and blog conglomerates. Today Ethiomedia is the arbiter of this “reformist” or by its real name a kind of “fire brigade” for these disfunctional and discredited ethnocenteric ambitious group to revive and sustain the Ethnic cause in the gusie of Ethiopia winet.
So I say it is better to call a spade is a spade.

    Ethiopia will prevail!!

  3. Ethiomedia is weyane in disguise.

  4. Feyissa Great Job! You nailed on wedi banda!

Ethiomedia Abreha Belay is a former oldfashioned weyane. He tried to play his best to make Birhanu Nega and his gang groups saviours of the nation out of nothing. 21-st century Ethiopians are just watching & recording his rootless cheep propaganda.
This moraless coward person work with Almariam, Birhanu gangs, ofcourse to replace Meles by Seye.

Have you seen how he is Advertising the new NGO forged by Abebe Belew..kkkkkkkkkkkk… the diaspora TPLF groups are also multplied into 5 more organizations (political-civil)including the so called Gasha in which Aberha is excutive; ONLF, OLF & some other shabia created liberation fronts, ginbot, andinet, anja eprp are also part network of a loughing stocks. They are planning to form a coallition with Tplf pupet oppositions in Ethiopia.
Watch how they are using Obang Meto as a shield for their dirty game and pushing him to pour the corrocodile tear in the name of unity.

  5. EMMMMMMMmmm Ethiomedia!!!
Now that I am a lil bit sober from my previous somehow enraged response to
your outrageous article saying “Eritrean opposition divulges sensitive
government secrets”, and let me do your homework for you Ethiomedia by
telling you who Joseph Grieboski at InfoLive.Tv is, in which you based
your bogus article “Eritrean opposition divulges sensitive government
    secrets” on December 10, 2008.

    Who is Mr. Joseph Grieboski?

It should be recalled that on 13 March 2007, Mr. Grieboski hosted a round
table meeting with the Ethiopian figurehead President Girma Woldegiorgis
and has worked hard to strengthen his relationship with the regime since.
When Meles Zenawi’s Aggazi forces slaughtered innocent Ethiopians on the
streets of Addis Ababa and killed over 200 people for protesting the
regime’s stealing of their votes, slaughtered innocent men, women and
children in the Gambela, Ogaden, and Oromia regions of Ethiopia, US
lawmakers decided to take action. They introduced HR-2003, known as the
Ethiopian Democracy and Human Rights Bill, besides Jendayi E. Frazer’s
State Department and the regime’s group of no less than 12 lobbyists, led
by Dick Army; it was Grieboski’s Institute that wrote to the United States
Congress to kill the Bill. Here is what Joseph Grieboski wrote:

“…Ethiopia has made outstanding progress in democratic development, human
rights, religious freedom, political and civil rights. Despite this
improvement, the House of Representatives wishes to impose its own
time line and its own standards on Ethiopia’s advance… H.R.2003 is a threat
to American political and security interests in the Horn of Africa and in
Africa as a whole and only serves to alienate yet another ally with a
sticks-but-no-carrots approach to foreign policy…It is imperative that the
United States Senate reexamines the merits of H.R. 2003 as currently
drafted and amend the bill to provide the appropriate democratic tools and
capacity-building agenda, before it causes undue harm to American
    interests…”

So Ethiomedia, do you think it news worthy what this bandit said? and not
only that, the sad part is, for Ethiomedia to add a little more evilly
twisted heading “Eritrean opposition divulges sensitive government
    secrets” Ehm?

THIS IS NOT A NEWS WORTHY ETHIOMEDIA. THIS IS A POLITICAL MEDIA
    PROSTITUTION AT ITs BEST.

You really need to do your homework Ethiomedia. Don’t trash your name and
become just like ETV, Deki Alula and Alena.com desperate news media
    prostitutes.

Especially, especially, when Ethiomedia website is represented by high
calipered people like professor of political science Alemayehu G. Mariam,
Mammo Muchie, a professor of social sciences, Professor Seid Hassan and
many other dignified contributors to your site. And you claim to be
Ethiomedia.com – An African-American news and views website. So Ethiomedia
should be a lil responsible in your reporting because I have a lot of
Ethiopia-America/Canadian friends who strongly reject political media
prestitution in any shape or from. So Ethiomedia must and should be a lil
    responsible in your reporting.

If you continue playing the political media prostitution like many others
do out there, sooner or later you will be trashed and rejected by your
wider audience and will end up surrounded only by hardliner Neftegn Amaras
and that bridge will take you to nowhere. Deki Alula is a good example. It
was acting like a media prostitute for Meles and his cronies but at the
end we all know what happed to it; it was trashed by the wider audience
and remained surrounded by Tigrian hardliners and eventually shut down for
    good and many other followed.

I know sometimes it could be very tempting but the truth should always
prevail. You already went to far in the route to political media
prostitution in your bogus article “Eritrean opposition divulges sensitive
government secrets” even though you were trying to sugar coated by giving
a warning “Readers should exercise caution as the authenticity of the
report has not been verified by independent sources.”
    That is a BS!! because
    Fe-re-segna-Ya-we-raw
    Eg-re-gna-Ay-Mel-se-wum

So lets be real and stop playing the political game because we are sick
and tiered of the media prostitution game; besides it is a bridge to
    nowhere.

So Ethiomedia my honest advice to you is don’t de-service yourself; do your
homework next time, and STOP BEING A MEDIA PROSTITUTE, because we have
plenty of them out there and for sure, we don’t need another addition.
