Defending our position in politics against bad motives of some elements is our duty

This writer met a person and a scholar by training and claims to be a former EPRP’S Leadership member as well. He met him over a dinner table held by a group. A group temporarily brought together for a specific purpose of Boarder issue in which many Ethiopians feel disgusted and uprising as a result. Before anything else, however, the KIBUR Professor began with hostile comment and sever condemnation directed at EPRP like any other frustrated fellows across the isle. Lamentably, though he talked with excessive pride about his higher position he enjoyed in EPRP some 25 years ago, but left the party as a result of some arrogant behavior of some elements in the leadership that resisted change and stubbornly refused to go along with his belief and opinion, he alleged. In a while, however, this writer found out that the reason why he came up with such allegation against EPRP was to justify his support to the current faction led by Ato Mersha Yosefe. What else do we expect from a person whose sense of humor is appeared to have deserted him altogether much like that of Mersha Yosef? He continued to mislead the writer but failed miserably. He did so to dupe this writer into thinking that EPRP is stubbornly an insolent organization that stands out to the bitter end. To that effect, he blamed everything on EPRP including on the failure of HIBRET and beyond. Besides, he tried the best he could to make the writer believe that EPRP is dire and ghastly and it is no use to stick with its ideology any longer and further advised the writer to abandon EPRP immediately.
First of all, the truth of the matter is that that demonizing and bashing EPRP is the work of hidebound double agents, engaged in espionage both for domestic and foreign powers against Ethiopia. Whatever the case maybe, I for one believe one of the reasons why such gossip-mongers are also in direct conflict with EPRP this days from within and abroad is because they smell patriotism, a deep love and commitment in EPRP and moreover a resurrection of our youthful dream across the land of Ethiopia. After all, Whale is a true but not typical mammal’. Can they be typical in a way that their claim against EPRP is perfectly valid to argue over with our fact of life in politics? Furthermore, does their argument matter when it comes to the point where the momentum for the revolution is ripe and for EPRP to further its national struggle against an ethnocentric dictatorial regime in Addis? Can they be as competent as they think they are especially, in a movement where the real show-down is about to taking place? EPRP is ready to deal with its rightful position in Ethiopian politics and shall continue to winning the hearts and minds of the vast majority of Ethiopian public as had been the case in the 1960s and 70s. That is the fact. Along the way, EPRP continues to defend its position in politics and shall continue to expose the intent and purpose of all double agents in Ethiopia . No matter how much they tempt EPRP and supporters to believe or try to dupe them into thinking something other than what EPRP is all about, still such gossip-mongers shall fail in the end. After all, their record is there to tell us who they are in person and what their objectives are. Whether or not they are undercover agent provocateurs, time will tell. But we all have to ask what their motive is when stating that EPRP is in some way or anther wrong and has done something unacceptable against the interest of our nation and beyond. Inevitably though, they will have suffered the unpleasant results of their own actions in due time.
Meanwhile, launching an attack against their action is an unavoidable burden for us to get the job done. Besides, when launching a campaigning against their malicious line of attack against patriots, we need to make sure that our attack is well coordinated and effective enough in terms of tackling their spiteful propaganda aimed at the very heart of our history too. So far, I have seen several articles written by several patriots and genuine Ethiopians in many news outlets and websites in reply to their malicious propaganda, still we have to join them in their endeavor to expose more of the agents’ action by stating more of formal and systematic statements that give facts in detail about their controversial backgrounds too.
Clearly, though tending to tolerate their malicious approach is not the course we need to employ. Because, I believe lack of careful attention to such personal grouches may lead us to the unknown destination. If not tackled on time that is. In other words, if not tackled on time such misleading publicity against EPRP will lead the young and innocent individuals into believing that EPRP is mean and malicious. Therefore, we have to strike back. On their part, they are provoking us in a bid to pursuit their personal happiness and pleasure at the expense of our misery and that is a crime against humanity and one cannot tolerate such actions at any rate. Indeed, it is sad to see them circulating such thorny and toxic propaganda against EPRP. Firstly, we need to recognize the fact that these elements are trying everything on earth to undermine our struggle is because they have done wrong and as a result have a feeling of shame and regret which they cannot avoid it easily. And secondly, as a result of their bad feelings, they continue to go back and forth between the two opposing views in order to mislead others.
In the same way, there are several elements from the previous military junta fortified behind the scene, and using several organizations to go against EPRP. Aside the wounds and injure we sustained from the infamous Red Terror campaign they are held responsible, here we are witnessing another campaign aimed at the very existence of EPRP. They still are in the mood to employ the same terror campaign against the same victim. What an irony! We are aware of their presence behind the scene of all pretexts supplying the naïve generation with the emotional energy that leads the generation itself to act and behave in an extreme way against the same maltreated generation. Look, for instance, how emotionally driven audience both so-called current affaires pal talk and Lesan for Ethiopia have.
Much like the current airfares pal talk forum of the day, the then Mass Medias of DERG were busy of condemning EPRP and the youth. They used to broadcast news reports hostile to the then youth and passed a sort of judicial pronouncements against the fate of our youth. The youths were accused of a crime they never committed. Not only the derg destroyed the generation but also killed the spirit and the morale of the generation that followed. The reports carried by those Mass Media outlets were graphic and deadly. They used to carry out such horrible reports as mass killings and mass graves live to all Ethiopians to see. Indeed all of which were committed against humanity in order to undermine the movement led by EPRP. These are the memories still fresh in our mind today. Yes those individual kebele officers and cadres with such backgrounds were everywhere hunting EPRP and still are everywhere today attacking EPRP.
Much like today’s faithless politicians of all sorts, both Cadres and KEBELE officials were even more proud of their action against humanity. As if it was an amazing adventure taken against foreign aggression, and as if they were morally superior to the beliefs and actions of EPRP and of the public at large, they happy and proud of their action against humanity? They were proud of their criminal act committed against the entire generation. The junta together with its collaborators used to talk proudly not only about what they have done to wipe out the youth but also about what they could do to any Ethiopia’s children if found “guilty” of committing crime in the future. Guilty on their own version means attempting to challenge their power. Crime in their own version means also rebelling against totalitarianism. A system in which DERG was in control of everything be it political, economic, social and cultural affairs of the nation as a whole. And yet it was common for Ethiopia’s national radio to carry out the events on its noon and evening’s broadcasting sessions if necessary at any time as breaking news in a form of proclamations and communiqués to surprise the nation and to intimidate ‘anarchists’ and reactionaries. It was common for the nation to hear the horrible news that says such number of anarchists and anti revolutions were put to death due to this and that pretexts. Thus far, such facts and malicious propaganda that had been transmitted through such outlets are on record for anyone to learn how horrible DERG was. With that said, it is unthinkable for us to witness that still the same elements here, there and everywhere are carrying out the same kind of condemnation against EPRP in Ethiopia today.
