This time it is becoming clearer than ever, to why the Ethiopian political opposition unity is easily destroyed in shorter time any time it gets its act together. Reason might varies, one recent coming to the surprised as a cause among the various reasons never came to our knowledge as a cause for the disuniting of the opposition was: – the hidden work of some defected x-EPRDF Diplomats, press workers who served the regime as recent as several years, to two years back before they told us they defected from TPLF.

My Ethiopian brothers; this is a man who as you read it above quoted on his article slandering, belittling, degrading, dehumanizing these two victims of his own party and his own government “TPLF/EPRDF”. Both are Ethiopian heroes, both were fighting the system which Workie Birie was serving and defending for 11 ½ (Eleven & half years). The same person was contributing to their suffering and agony while building his party EPRDF then, the same person is now still slandering his victims with out feeling a bit of spiritual or moral shame in his soul! Yes, you might be feeling shock to hear the same person still going after these two respected Ethiopians, but, you can’t help it; there are some natures who simply drop their moral and spiritual sense to the ground and act as the jungle cat on public after serving the very first system Workie Birie and his likes are currently condemning with us as if they didn’t built it to be the monster to suck the blood of Taye, Hailu and millions of millions of Ethiopians.
Since, I have dealt enough about him on another discussion forum where they accept his slanderous articles; I will only bring you the man who knows him better than you and I to tell us who this man is and his nature. I will only quote the highlights of this man’s nature in brief.
Do you recall an article presented by a former Ethiopian Diplomat who resides in Addis Ababa by the name “Ahmed Khalid” an article in title “what is Workie Birye Saber Rattling about?
He starting exposing this man as opportunist and continued saying “…. Nonetheless, given his background, the style of the writings that he posted in his name does not support the claim that he is the actual author. Whatever the case, I did not expect him to be so unethically insulting and harassing his former colleagues, nor suspected that he harbored so much hatred to the current government and its Foreign Service, which he served with deep political commitment most likely emanating from his membership of the EPRDF party”. Mr.Ahmed Khalid goes on and said: “When I read your response to Dr. Tekeda’s open letter to Prof. Christopher Clapham, I felt like as if you have descended from another world with absolutely no knowledge of the Ethiopian history and political terrain. I am also surprised to note that you have already started masquerading yourself as a clean and heroic citizen with the right to pointing fingers at Ethiopian professionals who work for the civil service with or without political allegiance. Then again on a more sober note, I thought of you as a person who have conveniently forgotten your past. You seem to sound hysterically calling for the removal of the current government from power from a “safe distance” harbored in the pretext of “political asylum”. This hysteria is probably for your own consumption and for self-gratification, as you seem to be content with listening to your own voice. It is no secret that Ethiopian history is awash with the history of political violence and you seem to shout hysterically for more of it to come as if you are possessed with some demon. What is the return for the transaction in the tragedy of your own country? Why are you trying to make capital out of the post-election sad events that happened in our country? To me your articles are motivated by sheer hatred and vanity”. Catch this phrase from his collogue who knows him better than we do “ I am also surprised to note that you have already started masquerading yourself as a clean and heroic citizen with the right to pointing fingers at Ethiopian professionals who work for the civil service with or without political allegiance” .This is exactly what surprised as Mr.Ahmed was surprised to note that Mr.Workie Birie has already in shorter times here in America after his defection, masquerading himself as a clean and heroic citizen. Not only that, but what Mr. Ahmed saying is Workie was EPRDF member while the others were not EPRDF members. You will find his strong membership and the love he had for EPRDF a little later. Mr. Ahmed asks who is Who is Workiye Birie anyway? “Where did he get the guts to give an ultimatum to the staff of the Ethiopian Foreign Service to quit and defect or face consequences? To harass and abuse an Ethiopian professional for serving the country under this or that government? To engage in character assassination? To tell us that he is a “ hero” and a “savior” but we are the cadres of a ruling party serving under the belly of a tyranny? Why is he so bitterly pointing fingers at others while what his former colleagues know about him is totally different?
Fact one: By his own admission he was an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (gallantly defending the same government in Brussels which he so much hates now) until he mysteriously and dramatically changed position.
Fact Two: The whole Ministry staff knows that he was a member of the EPRDF for more that 11 years. Everyone vividly remembers him singing the EPRDF song in front of the whole staff in one of the Party’s occasions. Some still believe that he was rewarded for that in different ways.
Fact Three: He joined the ministry as a first secretary directly (at an older age) unlike most professionals who join immediately after graduation at much lower rank. His first posting was at the Ethiopian Embassy in Brussels as the governments Counsellor to the European Union. He stayed there for about seven years well beyond the normal cycle, which is usually five years.
Fact Four: When he was transferred back to the capital he came with all duty free goods including a brand new SUV. He sold everything in the local market. God knows whether tax is paid on them or not when he left the country. As a lawyer he should know that tax evasion is a crime. An independent reader could now judge whether this man benefited from this system beyond his share of privileges. Obviously he was busy amassing what he can while it was all-convenient, and he had to defect few months after his arrival back home. But all was well until he was called back to base. He was probably spoiled in Europe and could not contemplate life in his own country. Otherwise, if he is not going to tell us that he has a mental and judgmental problem to solve, how come it took him 12 years to get the “true picture of the government”?

I believe the grudge started when you were called back while you wanted to stay more in Brussels, and again when you failed the exam for directorship at the ministry while much younger diplomats were successful. I believe the story that after 111/2 years as a member of the EPRDF, you calculated and changed sides thinking that your current bosses will come to power and you will be able to accompany them to the palace disguised as a patriot. But when this grand cheat plan failed, like all opportunists before you, you now settled with your new bosses of convenience where you can discharge your hate propaganda against your own country’s diplomatic institution with out limits. I find it difficult to buy your story of “former diplomats” working with you in such a shameless way. You may have a couple of people working with you, however, I honestly do not think that “former diplomats” per se are actually shareholders of your hate propaganda company and approve of your way of “struggle” to power through insult, harassment and threats against your former colleagues and institution.

Therefore, given his political and professional history at the Ministry and his unfair and undeserved benefits he illegally amassed, how neurotic he must be to tell us that he is a hero, while the rest of us are a bunch of cadres. He is indeed unprofessional and unethical that he uses information he got in the line of duty (whether that particular information is correct or not) to harass or abuse others.

You should be the last person to talk about principle. However, the bottom line is, please stop implying that Civil Servants are a kind of traitors. Service to the Ethiopian State will out live your mortal aspiration for shortcut to power, which is doomed from inception to lead our beloved country to disaster. You should also know as an Ethiopian and, if you were a professional diplomat you claim to be, how could you supply defamatory information about your own country and its Foreign Service?If you think that it is O.K. to give information, which you claimed to have come across while on official duty, to the propaganda machinery of the enemies of the country (remember Shaabiya), then it may not stop only as an issue of moral bankruptcy, but you shall have a legal case to resolve.” Dear Ethiopian brothers and siters and our elderly patriot Ethiopians: Leave the theory of the other Diplomat how he saw his view regarding TPLF/EPRDF aside. These charcters amazing style is, they do not shut up or confess their failings/crimes. It is their attempt to cover up worse than their crimes that eventually bury them. Your article is non-sense. Even if Workie worked for EPRDG it is to his credit that he saw his mistakes. That is not to be rediculed but celebrated and commended. Knowing that you are a crude and staunch supporter of the Iyassu Alemayehu aka Hama Tuma click you do not appreciate the courage required to change postions. You think politics is religion.
However, I do not agree with his romanticized view of AFD and his alleged maligning of all civil servants.
As to you, Getachew Reda, I suggest the following:
1. Look at yourself in the mirror. You do not own all the truth or you EPRP click. You, Iyassu and Fassika are not the only people who love Ethiopia. I suggest you apply a rational test for your political oppinions not a religious test.

I read your response what you feel about discussing issues is for you,as you put it,is barking just as a messanger if you think such ideas atleast you have to grow more in most of your body parts, because from your experience in the struggle you told me you know about all the WUSHINFER and just raise your mud smearing in you ideas.
Still my question is one and only one ” why now ?why not about four oe three months ago?”. It is not about i setting(telling )you when to act but i read between the lines that your outcry is not the analysis given by ato Workiye but what i conclude is that what we say in Amharic “TILKU DEWEL GW GW SIL TINSHUA KTCHIL KCHIL TILALECH “.
It is one thing to share what problems contributed to the rift of KINIJIT to find the solutions? and this issue was raised for the group in Europe and what the group could not tell us right clarification and a bit drama that they are going hand in hand. But after they finished their tour the person who appeared in the media was the one who answered that particular question.
What i learn from this and the issues of the rift in Kinijit was a concluded drama before the tour of Europe or America.
The pertinent issue what we have to discuss it that why not the other group or KIC invited the what you call the splinter group for a discussion to show the Ethiopian people which is going on the right track.
The other issue is that what is not done by both groups is that they were nor ready to recouncile among them so they do not tried to reconcile the rift outside the country, may be since the chairman is now in America, if he reconciled with himself could also invite both groups to appear on the meetings to be conducted and hear both sides of the story irrespective of his assignment to one part to function after he wrote a letter which curve the function of both groups.

OK! Let’s assume that the charges concocted by Tekeda Alemu (a/k/a Ahmed) against me and those relayed by Getachew are correct. But with all its beauty and novelty, the down side with this kind of cyber ant-war is that readers will be left at a loss. They are equipped with no tool to discern the heck of the chaff out of the seed.
The dilemma is: I sayed, TPLF officials sayed, and Getachew Reda sayed! Who is to believe here ? Let’s help our readers out in some ways.
Here is the challenge to Getachew Reda! Let’s request one of the call-in radios to host a mini debate between you and myself. Let you and me introduce ourselves: with a little of bio data, and educational, professional, and even political background. We may also add a brief exchange of views on current affairs to this mini debate.
Then the radio host can invite their audience for questions, comments, and even testimonies. I am sure there are many Ethiopians living abroad who know something about some aspect of our life. On my part, I know there are many Ethiopians with whom I have worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Because, yes I worked in this ministry as a legal expert for ten years. Former colleagues can say for or against me with a special focus on those allegations, if necessary. And the same applies to your holiness Aba Getachew.
If any one of the charges against me by the EPRDF official (as amplified by you) is found to be correct, then I will apologize in public for committing a crime of misrepresentation against members and supporters of the CUD and against all Ethiopians who have been reading my contributions over the past two years.
Let me remind readers of these charges:
That I joined Foreign Ministry at an old age
That I was employed as First Secretary as a political favor
That I was a member of the EPRDF for eleven and half years
That I was known to dance at TPLF festivals.

In anyways, as I promised above, if any of these charges or the characterization of them, I would like to emphasize any, are found to be correct, I deserve more sanction by my compatriots than the character assassination like you seem to be in full gear to perform as a profession. In my part I suggest public apology, perhaps plus forty four lashes as a sanction. I added “lashes” as one possible form of sanction here because I believe that typical savages who engage in character assassination do not understand any other form of civilized methods of correction. By the way these sanctions apply to you as well if the verdict from our compatriots is that you are simply a good-for-nothing….
I would like to readers to add that I have been hesitating for two days on whether to react or not to Getachew Reda’s cheap wrestling. Judging from his hobby, past time, the language he uses, and from the shallowness his writings display, it did not take me much time to decide that he is not a person who deserve my reacting. Again on a second thought, I realized that I owe readers, Ethiopians, and my CUD brethren some explanation. Although I have no any ambition to hold any public or high profile political office, at least these compatriots invested some part of their time to read my views and comments over the last two years and a need, on their part, to clear or confirm some doubts is a fair game.
Yes I was a public servant under the EPRDF run civil service. I have never claimed that I am lily white. No one is perfect except God. I mean my God, not Getache Reda’s god or gods. Almost three years ago I started my debute contribution by saying that I had sinned, and sinned with all my colleagues. “Sinned”, just by virtue of serving the regime, no matter we acted as ordinary experts or political appointees. I did that not out of whish to get absolutions from what I did in my past life but to begin my future with a clear conscience.
I did not write that apology and neither is this letter addressed to Getache because I believe individuals like him are neither genuinely concerned citizens nor matured politicians trying to contribute to a civilized debate, but just a rude brats. We all know that the history of EPRP is a story of a long sad book. But people like Getachew Reda and the flame war forums that he runs is the saddest chapter in the book. Over the last 25 or more years, I do not think they have contributed anything meaningful. Whenever the democratic struggle at home seems to reach a promising stage, Getachew Reda wakes up from a deep sleep and engages in a frantic war of destroying personalities, because he knows that a real democracy in my country means a total loss of natural habitat for him.

If any one of the charges against me by the EPRDF official (as amplified by you) is found to be correct, then I will apologize in public for committing a crime of misrepresentation against members and supporters of the CUD and against all Ethiopians who have been reading my contributions over the past two years.

I would like to readers to add that I have been hesitating for two days on whether to react or not to Getachew Reda’s cheap wrestling. Judging from his hobby, past time, the language he uses, and from the shallowness his writings display, it did not take me much time to decide that he is not a person who deserve my reacting. Again on a second thought, I realized that I owe readers, Ethiopians, and my CUD brethren some explanation. Although I have no any ambition to hold any public or high profile political office, at least these compatriots invested some part of their time to read my views and comments over the last two years and a need, on their part, to clear or confirm some doubts is a fair game.
Yes I was a public servant under the EPRDF run civil service. I have never claimed that I am lily white. No one is perfect except God. I mean my God, not Getache Reda’s god or gods. Almost three years ago I started my debute contribution by saying that I had sinned, and sinned with all my colleagues. “Sinned”, just by virtue of serving the regime, no matter we acted as ordinary experts or political appointees. I did that not out of whish to get absolutions from what I did in my past life but to begin my future with a clear conscience.
I did not write that apology and neither is this letter addressed to Getache because I believe individuals like him are neither genuinely concerned citizens nor matured politicians trying to contribute to a civilized debate, but just a rude brats. We all know that the history of EPRP is a story of a long sad book. But people like Getachew Reda and the flame war forums that he runs is the saddest chapter in the book. Over the last 25 or more years, I do not think they have contributed anything meaningful. Whenever the democratic struggle at home seems to reach a promising stage, Getachew Reda wakes up from a deep sleep and engages in a frantic war of destroying personalities, because he knows that a real democracy in my country means a total loss of natural habitat for him.

What amazed me is not that he should express his opinion. What made me react is when he attacked Taaye and Hailu (as brother Oujilu said it right, my heroes) which is irrational to do it as element like him. The other thing is , he still seemed not to learn. He attacked EPRP to attack me. EPRP couldn’t participate in the country openly, because his x-boss Meles Zenawi scare the hell out of EPRP or hate EPRP (one of it) and refused to allow it to come to Ethiopia and participate in the struggle legally.
Not only EPRP, but also Aregawi Berhe too was prohibited from coming in. Ethiopia is owned by Meles. And Worjiye Buriye was hired in the service of TPLF getting feel his belly, while Tesegae Debteraw and his friends and GAYim were slaughtered on a day light while the “Sinner” (to use his own word) was living, sleeping deep, rest comfortably no police or torture, intimidation from TPLF; while many of us were threaten, our telephone wringing with threat constantly. Please let others talk about our struggle. This fellow is calling me a rude brat. Hel mercy! Trust me brothers/sister, I could have leaved comfortably like him (or even be his boss as a cadre) if I accepted many invitation from TPLF officials who were all my friends and childhood friends (all his top bosses were my childhood and classmates), I could go now and get a fat check. This is the reason why coward like you comes with singl name, no picture or nothing and is hard for us to talk about you.
So people with undercover names gets free ride to insult those of known to the public. Let us to me a poor fellow, you even degraded the hero of Ethiopia Taye and counted your two years internet writer Werkiye arrived from TPLF company crowned as “second to none”. I can see how your mind works here. That is I can say. If I say some thing similar a syou said- it is nothing to becuae, I do not know you.

A husband and a wife in their 60’s who had won the DV Visa lottery program and were granted an entry visa to the United States, say that they refuse to travel by airplanes because of “security concerns”. The couple, Kegn Azmach Seleshi Worotaw and Woizero Tayitu Melkeneh, say they intend to ride their horses from Addis Ababa straight to Phoenix, Arizona, where their son resides.

The Ethiopian Political Elite:
The saddest and most depressing feature of our country’s life, at least as seen in our life time remains to be regrettably the political situation, at times much more than the cycle of drought and starvation. The poverty, starvation and degradation could probably have been overcome if we were fortunate enough to find the secret to solve our political problems. At least one generation already lost the opportunity to find that magic formula, and simply vanished. Now, the new generation also seems to be consciously or unconsciously on the verge of losing its great chance, destiny and social contract; the opportunity to shape the future of its beautiful and good old mother land. Partly, if not mainly, the vestiges of the earlier generation should take blame for this sad situation.
The political situation in our country is solely controlled and maneuvered by the political elites, whose true dreams and aspirations don’t always necessarily coincide with the people’s dreams, wishes, prayers and hopes, and worst of all have no accountability. The lack of willingness or ability, on the part of the political elite, to relate or distinguish political power from the true aspirations of the people, leads to cyclic crisis, violence and betrayal of the people’s trust, wishes and aspirations. Often, the people are used by the elite as a means to climb or cling to power and to perpetuate the crisis in one way or another with intermittent cycles of violence and destructions.
What is ironic, depressing and somewhat perplexing is that whenever the country seems to get an unprecedented opportunity to perhaps come out once and for all from its chronic problems, the political elite squanders it and dooms the people’s dreams. It fails to wisely catch the moment and the historic opportunities mainly because it is often blinded by the lust for power at any cost, ideological dogma, conceit, arrogance, suspicion, intolerance, internal strife and narrow and self centered goals.
Ato Getachew, You are so vicious, nasty, evil and confused. You better see a psychiatrist before it is too late. You think we don’t know anything about you.
