THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST – THE FINAL JUDGEMENT – THE EPRP TO BE BLAMED BY THE DEWES?

By Selam Demeke

First of all, please allow me to express my sincere condolence to the families, friends and followers of our Late true Father, Like Tebebt Ayalew Tamiru. I will never forget his famous Book – ‘Mech Telemedena Ketekula Zimdina?’. I will never forget his relentless prayers and spiritual struggles against the puppets of the Woyanes from the Hierarchy of the Holy Synod. He set the highest moral standards and examples, for which he paid heavy sacrifices, even including his Pensions at his dying age. May Our Almighty God Rest His Sol in Heaven, in Peace!

  1.         Categorising all genuine individuals and groups as EPRP members

I can witness, with full certainty and confidence that almost all enlightened, democratic and genuine citizens, from students to Professors, from peasants to trade unionists, from ordinary soldiers to the Generals, from East to West, from North to South, irrespectively, have, in one way or the other, supported the EPRP leadership of the protracted past struggle. History will clearly tell how many of those genuine and brightest members that paid heavy sacrifices for the sake of the betterment of their people. Today, however, although the EPRP usual struggle is continuing unabated, I do not know who is and who is not a current member of this Party, conclusively.

But what is so strange, so funny, and so contradictory, is, however, the repeated categorisation and blaming of any one who tells the truth as though he or she is a member of the EPRP. If such truthful and genuine individuals are truly members of the EPRP, it will only be a pride of the Party. Even if they are not true members, the categorisation of their truth with the EPRP is also a similar pride. When the respected Dr. Maru talks about truth they do not want to comment on the content of his messages but simply jump to the conclusion that this is the work of the EPRP. When they cannot face Dr. Taye or fail to find faults in him, they jump to the same silly conclusion – the work of the EPRP.  If the CUD meets with ups and downs, they blame the EPRP. If Dr. Taye joins the CUD, they blame the EPRP. When conscious citizens wish to be organised under the EPRP or when the EPRP recruits genuine members for the genuine struggle against the Fascists, they shameless open their dirty mouth to blame this party. When can they understand the natural rights of parties and individuals to exercise their human and democratic rights? Is it not shame and suicidal on the part of these sick people to happily entertain the Fascists and brutal dictators and to rather embark on defaming genuine parties and individuals with cheap fabrications? But the problem is that they are shameless corpses.

When Jesus Christ comes back again to give last judgements against the murderers, fornicators, Fascists and their puppets, I would not be surprised if the Dewes and the Gemorawsy do blame the EPRP.

2.         Who is the people’s enemy and who is the people’s friend?

Of all times and places, Dewe Ibrahim’s choice to declare a shallow war on the EPRP at this critical time of the Woyane tyranny is indeed abject, hopeless and criminal. Just like the Gemoraws accusation of Dr. Taye for not respecting the Woyane law, Dewe is repeating the same accusation against the EPRP. He accuses the EPRP for anarchism because of its mobilisation of the trade union against the Fascism of the the Ethiopian brutal dictators. Did he expect the EPRP to obey the Fascists? Did he expect the EPRP to get an operational license from the dictators? Did he expect them to take the Fascists to the Kangaroo courts to complete the popular revolution for democracy? What is he talking about? How sick, cheap and hopeless he could be to say that the EPRP is worse than the Woyanes in brutality. Is it really?  Doesn’t this absurd contrast clearly show his close affiliation with the Woyane tyranny for his petty personal interest? Is there any one in the world, with a right mind, today,  who can portray true and genuine opposition parties for being worse than the Woyane tyranny?  Not at all, except the Woyane cadres such as the Kemal Bedris, the Kihdetus, the Dewes and the Gemos – Wusha Kebelabet Yichohal!!

EPRP is the only opposition political party that struggled for democracy for human and trade union rights over the last 3 and a half decades – tirelessly – non-stop – and selflessly. How about his Woyanes? They are devils who do not only destroy innocent lives but also the Nation. They are the ones who are looting the national treasury in the name of privatisation. They are the ones who are bringing untold misery to Ethiopia and to the Region. What a contrast? It is really shame for a person who at one time in history was by chance a Leader of the famous Ethiopian Workers Confederation to put himself so low and so cheap in a dirty propaganda against genuine and totally selfless opposition parties for the sake of small handouts from the Fascists to fill his dying and closing up belly.

3.         EPRP and organising the Trade Union Movement

He tries to accuse the EPRP for infiltrating and organising the trade union against repressive regimes, to facilitate democracy for human and trade union rights. Who told him that it is a crime to do so?

EPRP is a Party that was formed especially to struggle for the emancipation of oppressed people – for the equality of the Peasants, the Working Class and the national groups, through democracy, unity, peace and prosperity. Besides, if Dewe had the right mind and self-respect, he wouldn’t have missed the fact  that left wing political organisations such as the EPRP and the trade unions are hands and gloves in their political struggles, as are the rich and the Conservatives – all over the World.

4.         In Conclusion

I am sorry for wasting my time and that of my respected readers. Such trashes do not deserve replies. People who cannot utter a paragraph of condemnation against the  acts of tyrannical regimes and rather choose to write 6 pages of fabrications and blasphemy against genuine and respected organisations and individuals are truly sick and wicked.

I will leave the judgement to the human conscience and to God.

  1. Thank you Selam Demeke!
If those shinning stars who sacrificed their lives for the causes of the people of Ethiopia were alive, they would have told the critics of EPRP that they would be willing to die even now because they had a cause worth than living.

I read the article titled “The threat of Tigrean Nationalism” written by Kallacha Dubbi on Aug 15, 2007 and posted on Ethiopian review http://www.ethiopianreview.com/articles/977
with dismay and great disappointment. I posted my reaction on the commentary on August 17, 2007. However, I found out that my suggestion was removed from the commentary. I noticed the editors of Ethiopian Review being busy posting articles that are either divisive of the efforts of democratic forces or trying to promote the views of the remnants of the dead feudal system that had been buried down by the Ethiopian people. They posted articles like “ Haile Selassie the great leader of Ethiopia”, “Dr. Taye Wolde Semayat Kicked out of ETA.”, “Andargachew Tsige- the Londoner, a visionary leader.”, “The threat of Tigrean Nationalism- characterizing EPRP as the weakest link in the opposition.” Given the kinds of issues they choose to post on the site, I am being convinced of the allegation that Ethiopian Review is amongst those websites like aigaForum which are in the payroll list of Meles Zenawi.

Here is my reaction to Kallacha’s article: The threat of Tigrean Nationalism

I believe that Kallacha Dubbi’s article is no different from the wishes and intentions of the proponents of TPLF, dividing the Diaspora. Besides, the substance discussed in the article is neither original nor exhaustive. Several Ethiopian (especially from Tigray) scholars, such as Berhe Kahsay, Tesfaye Atsbeha, Abraha Belai, etc., have been writing extensively about the political crisis and corruption of Meles Zenawi ‘s regime on Ethiomedia as well as other Ethiopian websites. Kallacha’s article has no substance that can contribute or advance for a better understanding of the struggle for democracy against tyranny except for the gossip and smear campaign against some democratic forces in favor of others. . Here are the facts about the origin and heroic sacrifice of those Ethiopians in the struggle for equality, freedom and democracy in Ethiopia and who are designated as bunch of confused infantile fanatics in Kallacha’s article.

During Haile Selassie regime, there were Ethiopians who were labeled as bariyas(slaves) because of the color of their skin whose communities would be invaded and members captured and taken as slaves by highlanders; there were Ethiopians who were declared as untouchables (Woyitos) but would work in the farm fields of the feudal lords ( balabats) 12 hours a day with minimal share of their produce; there were Ethiopians called galas who were treated as savages and reduced to serfdom on their own land for the benefit of war lords; Ethiopians engaged in crafts and arts would be labeled as shemane(engaged in cotton weaving), buda(engaged in blacksmith), felasha(engaged in pottery), azmari(engaged in cultural art and dancing), etc. and regarded as outcasts; Ethiopian peasants(in all regions) were labeled as gebar( to mean tax payer with derogatory connotation to mean uncivilized or dirty people); the educated people were branded as woteliks( converts of Catholicism). In short to be engaged in a productive skill or to have a positive attitude to change and to modern life was scorned at and discouraged by the feudal system. The only profession worthy of respect was the aristocracy and the nobility (war lords). More over, the people from Northern regions such as Wollo, Gondar, Tigray, and Eritrea were suffering from poverty due to recurrent famine and environmental degradation.

Students from the poor and oppressed families went to modern school only to discover that the system they were in had no mechanism put in place to understand and solve the problems of their people and their country. They saw everything for change was blocked. Hence around the end of 1960s and beginning of 1970 the students began to raise and debate the problems of the country. They organized protests against the system, demanded land to the tiller and democracy for the people by the people. Most leaders of the student movement took a radical position- a complete tear down of the feudal system and relations of production and their replacement by a radical progressive democratic system with the ownership of land by the people of Ethiopia. They sought to abolish the feudal culture by a progressive culture that would encourage modern education, technology and modern life. EPRP, the first Ethiopian political party was born out of such struggle in April 1972.
Born out of a radical movement, of course, it was a progressive and radical organization.

Kallacha states “In the 1970s, in a bizarre combination of feudal tradition with Marxism, the EPRP offered nothing else to the Ethiopian political roundtable other than winning by killing or dying, even when in its opposition stood a well-armed national army pronouncing its sure demise.” We know what happened to people like Haile Fidda of MEISON, Dr. Senay Likke of WOZLEAGUE, and others who participated in political groups such as ICHAT, MALERID, hoping to change the military junta from within. All of them, one after another were devoured by the dictator, Mengistu Hailemariam.
The leaders of EPRP were neither shallow feudal remnants, nor blind supporters of Marxism-Leninism. They were dedicated intellectuals-doctors, professors, teachers and progressive elements who had a clear understanding of the world political order and the nature of the struggle that had to be waged in Ethiopia to bring about the desired change for democratic rights, equality, and unity on diversity. When the military junta took power in 1974, EPRP was not strong enough to take power. However, it demanded the immediate replacement of the military junta by an all inclusive provisional popular government until political parties would get the desired time and space to freely organize themselves and compete for power. When the junta declared open war on EPRP in 1976, the latter went underground and continued its struggle using urban and rural guerrilla warfare to dislodge the junta from power.

Eritrean movements had already been in the bushes since early 1960. Until late 1977 EPLF, being impressed by the sophisticated political skill of the leadership of EPRP, gave its support to EPRP against the wishes of TPLF. However, as soon as EPLF discovered that EPRP wouldn’t recognize the right of Eritrea for secession, EPLF and TPLF waged a joint operation against EPRP and drove it out of Tigray in 1978. If EPRP were to follow political opportunism (prostitution), it is obvious that it could have acknowledged the right of Eritrea for independence, like what TPLF did, and would have won the military and financial support of EPLF. At that time EPLF was a giant in the armed struggle given its support from the Arabian world. But EPRP chose to accept the military blow from the trio- Dergue, TPLF, and EPLF than to abandon the cause of the people for the sake of political expediency. Most of the leaders paid the ultimate sacrifice- their precious lives- for the cause of the struggle of the people. When Dergue death squads led them to execution sites they chanted “death to the enemy of the people! The struggle of the people shall triumph!” They braved death.

The rest of the leadership and followers continued their struggle for democracy, freedom, and equality within the frame work of one nation- Ethiopia. Currently, hundreds of its members and leaders are languishing in the secret underground cells of Woyane for refusing to succumb to the rule of TPLF. EPRP taught us what it takes to struggle for equality, justice, and democracy. It is a symbol of heroic sacrifice for the cause of the people. It is a naïve understanding of the history of EPRP to think that the members who paid that heroic sacrifice didn’t know or were confused about what they were struggling for. It is a total distortion of facts to suggest or imply that EPRP directly or indirectly collaborates with TPLF. Still now, Woyane dreads the potential of EPRP to unite democratic forces across ethnic lines and its cadres preach against EPRP day and night.

I have read several press releases of EPRP which expressed the intentions and desires of the party to form a united front with all democratic forces within the sovereignty of Ethiopia. And I hope that the alliance partners of CUD would refrain from directly or indirectly leading us into the risks of creating mini-states and the cycle of violence that will ensue as a result. I believe that Issayas Afeworki and EPLF, still, harbor the grand illusion of creating a big empire in the horn of Africa with Eritrea as the center of military, political and economic power by plundering the resources of the states in the region. I believe Yonas Araya, in his article, In Solidarity With The Forces of Good posted on http://www.asmerino.com, when he stated,
“For many years while in the Sahel region, Issayas was fantasizing of replicating the Soviet empire to our region. The Soviet Empire, after surrounding itself by friendly and subdued states, not only did it feel secure behind the iron curtain, but also served as the economic, military, and a political center of its satellites, its subdued neighbors. Thus he too had this daydream to make Eritrea the economic, military, and a political center for the nations of the Horn of Africa, from the Sudan to Somalia, where his safety and power would be protected forever by subdued nations, from external oppositions and internal reformers.”

No doubt hostile mini-states serve the purpose of the tyrant in Asmera. I hope that those Ethiopian groups organized under the political agenda of protecting the interest of their exclusive constituents would think smart and be more committed to the struggle for making the people of Ethiopia to be the decision makers of their destiny. I believe that empowering the people will bring back the missed opportunity for democratic forces of Ethiopia to compete freely for political power and to promote the causes of the people such as fighting poverty, expanding education and the infrastructure, controlling disease and expanding health care services, advancing economic development and technology, participating in Pan-Africanism, etc. In this endeavor, visionary Ethiopians like Obang Metho and Alemayehu Gebremariam can help us understand how to play a constructive role without playing a destructive role the struggle of other democratic forces.

    Thanks.
For the record, I had the opportunity to witness the events as they happened. But, I had never participated in any political group including EPRP. I decided to save my life when my friends defied death to contribute to the struggle of the people of Ethiopia. I admired them then, and will admire them for ever. Nothing was important for them more than alleviating the living conditions of the people. What I see now is entirely different. Opportunism, bent on taking advantage of one over the others. This got to be changed.

  2. Sometimes, not sometimes if possible always, it is advisable to think and to talk with yourself before you speak out and write down your opinion.
Dawi what is wrong if EPRP works and recruit members inside Ethiopian trade?
Isn’t their citizen right doing that?
Isn’t a right of members of Ethiopian trade union to be member and active participant of any political organization whom they preferred to be?
    Isn’t their fundamental right?
Ato Dawi,on the other hand you are telling us that any political organization should be far away from Ethiopian trade unions.
You are telling us any member of the trade union should not be involved in his or her countries affair.
    How it is shameful.

  3. Dewe Ibrahim was a TPLF employee in Forum 84 and later in the trade union.A shallow man with low moral stature (he beat his wife so bad that the police haf to restrain him and she had to divorce him in Amsterdam) he sold himse;f to the Weyane and is mow working for the top TPLF agent in Holland,Mulugeta Asmelash. His petty campaign against the EPRP is commandeered by Andargatchew Tsige, another TPLF mole.Dewe is an embezzler and a sick man. thank you S for the wonderfularticle and comment.

  4. What can I say simply thank you Selam
I wish we could have more like you to guard Ethiopia as well as Eprp

  5. Do you know the reason why Ethiopian review and the former Kil stand against EPRP?
The sole purpose of the so called AFD who is largely dominated by OLF is once again to scramble Ethiopia as its friend TPLF did.
But it is impossible to make practical their dream due to the nature of their political program unless they get some morally declined people who falsely entitled the name of Ethiopia for their political organization as TPLF used this tactic to cross the border of Tigray 16 years ago.
The former Kil and their alliance Ethiopian review were fitting for the purpose of OLF.
They know that if EPRP is getting strong enough, they will be emnt as a result of their political program. That is why they are doing all their best against EPRP.

  6. As had been known by most of us,EPLF was intended to build Eritrea as singapore of the horn by looting Ethiopian economy with its ally Woyanne.but this shallow nightmare of EPLF’couldn’t be real due to another voracious of Woyanne.
To make real their day dream, first they attempted by force. When their mighty force is reversed thanks to the Ethiopian people, they started to recruit OLF and some others similar to Ethiopian review.
But what they did not know is that our readiness not to be fooled again.

  7. Dear Selam Demeke
I appreciate your response to Dawi Ibrahim’s blabber.
I also shared similar opinion with you and formerly sent to Dawi Ibrahim himself the following protest E-mail directly to his address.

    About your accusation to EPRP
    From: Suna Soft (sunasoft@msn.com)
    Sent: Saturday, August 18, 2007 2:32:22 PM
    To: ibidunet@yahoo.com

    Dear Mr. Dawi Ibrahim

I have read your frantic accusation and tormenting on the world wide web and was amused by your provocation to claim as the private owner of the Ethiopian Trade Union thousand miles away from your country.

Let me tell you, I am not a member of any political organization nor Personally know you except that I heard a name with Dawi who was the president of ETU at the end of the Derg regime or the beginning of the TPLF regime. Hence please accept my writing is motivated by personal initiative for the purpose of tackling the evil spirit that paralyzed the good relationship of our people and the wellbeing-ness of our nation.

It is understandable that you are living in Diaspora and know very well the basic freedom of thought and the right to association. It is not secret the West embraced such human rights covenants long time ago. As you mentioned, these individuals whom you accused were workers and members of the ETU just like yourself. Likewise, they are living thousands of miles away in someone’s country exactly like yourself. And yet you are acting as if you are leading ETU back in Addis. You have to recognize that they have inalienable right to have their own association in what so ever name as long as the rules and regulations of that particular host country allowed them. Similarly you too have the right to have your own union as long as the law permit you.

But your accusation sounds as if you went overboard to have an exclusive right to own ETU in Diaspora. Doesn’t this seems odd? In the first place who gave you that right to own ETU? I mean you may know how things work in your host country. If you have licensed ETU in your name you may have the avenue to bring this trespassers to justice. But when you failed to do so the choice of ridiculing on cyber space is not wise or legitimate. For us, ordinary Ethiopians, it sounds as you are embarking on stirring, confusing and dividing Ethiopians who are working hard to salvage the country from ruthless dictator. What is wrong If every Ethiopian works in cooperation with whom it suits best, for the cumulative effect that contribute for the common good of the people? Finger pointing, ridiculing, bulling, defaming or impeding is not a mark of refinement but barbarism.

Even if I am not politician, I know who is who in Ethiopian politics. Demonizing the selfless, unwavering, patriotic and seasoned members of EPRP is brute and monster. By any stretch of imagination, the EPRP won’t deserve your indecent despicable slander. I can’t imagine anyone who is really concerned about Ethiopia will act in such retarded point of view to belittle others. You smell someone who is working in tandem with sworn enemy of Ethiopia. The good news is we have got a chance to know the true colors of our friends and foes alike.

    Dear Dawi Ibrahim,
In the near future I will promise to find out who the hell you are and made it public for the sake of the Ethiopian struggle for democracy, brotherhood and lasting peace.

    With respect
    Yours Suleiman Nasir

  8. Dawi Ibrahim is a double timr traitor now working for the Weyane and following the order of the other bad fellow called Andargatchew>they are all manipulated by Inter Africa and the CIA who ahve now sent Berhanu Nega to do more operation confusion while the other CUD leaders have been stopped from coming out.Dawi is a dead log, past tense, zombie. He i ervign Weyane like his Bale colleague Gemoraw.

  9. Selam all,

I am happy to read such a wonderful and truthful article by Selam Demeke and fact-supported comments by Melkamu and others. God bless you all for standing in defense of the truth. Your contributions clearly show your integrity and how much you love your country and people. There are many Ethiopians and others like you and, if you have not done so, I think it is important to put your energies and resources together to be more effective in what you wish to happen in Ethiopia. As you have noted, it is now becoming more and more clear who are the enemies of Ethiopia and who are its defenders. I believe those associated with Isayas or EPLF will always remain its enemies. Isayas needs/needed them to be so because it is essential for his survival. TPLF and OLF are such products of EPLF. Ethiopian Review’s Elias Kifle and his likes, including Andargachew Tesege, and hired tools of EPLF and its surrogates. One thing we should keep in mind is that, although we have identified these enemies very well, we should always watch their movements attentively because they are skilled lairs and we cannot always be sure which direction they will be coming from to weaken our unity. For instance, I heard recently Andargachew Tesge portraying Isayas as a person working for the unity of Ethiopia. What a lie. Such lies should be communicated immediately to our people in order to avoid confusions. A second point is that, as we condemn the enemies of our country, we should show our full support to its true sons and daughters and to organizations genuinely dedicated to the cause of the Ethiopian people. I agree with the idea forwarded above to be engaged more actively in support of what Dr Alemayehu H/Mariam and Mr. Obang Metho are doing on behalf of the Ethiopian people. For now, I would also like to add our hero Dr. Taye W/Semayate and the invaluable radio program, Finote Democracy to the list. Finote Democracy reaches the Ethiopian people back home and it is simply the best. If we don’t support them, who will? Let us use them by supporting them. We need to do this to free ourselves from tyranny.

    Thank you.

  10. Greetings to All,

First of all I find Ato Melkam Yikdem’s piece in responce to the Ethiopian review’s article by Kallicha Dubbi very impressive and respectifully advise the author to expound the piece and write to DEBTERAW front page so that the geneneral public can share your eyewitness and historcal account. This is one of true duties and responsiblites of any human being to set the historcal record straight as you well have articulated. THANK YOU SIR!
The recent barrage of accuastions and charcter asassination of EPRP by its opponents and historcal enmies is not new and surprising for those of us who have witnessed worse than mere threats and vitrolic attacks. As we have done in the past, we have to ask why NOW? Every time the the main enmey(this time TPLF/EPRDF)gets desperate, senses the strength of the oppostion getting stronger it unleshes its fifth column. In addition the expostion or political cover of the wolves in sheep’s clothing among the oppostion helps fuel the desire to finding a usual scapegoat. The factional struggle in the diaspora Kinijit concerning AFD IS A CASE IN POINT. This diabolical effort orchastrated by SHABIA & OLF AND BY ALLEGDELY BY SOME IN THE TOP KIL LEADERSHIP was a hot political potato as US political comentators say DEAD ON ARRRIVAL. Observing and witnessing the sharp politcal shift to pan-Ethiopian nationalism from the last 17 years of divisive ethnicist determinism in the may 97 election, a new political alliance which favours the new circumstance was the the order of the day. Who better knows and understand this phenomenon than SHABIA,OLF &TPLF.To ignore this new reality is at their peril. They need a NEW TROJAN HORSE,a FIFTH COLUMN, A REAR GUARD. There are plenty if one looks carefully and willing and can afford to spend the resourses necessary. This os the world we live ion folks! OPEN YOUR EYES AND WALLET TO DEFEND THE PRO DEMOCRACY PAN ETHIOPIAN REVOULATION DECLARED ON MAY 97 BY BLOOD AND GUTS OF THE YOUNG AS THEIR COMRADES IN ARMS WHO FOUGHT THE FASCISTS,SEPARETISTS,NARROW NATIONALISTS. tHAT MAY 97 DAT THEY HAVE BECOME ONE.
    GOD BLESS THEM!!
    TULU FORCA

  11. I am proud to admit i was a member of EPRP and bear the guilt of doing nothing since. When EPRP called on its former members I considered the idea but had some reservations and questions of a personal nature.

That as it may, I have been listening and participating in nearly all Ethiopian Paltalk rooms for quite a while now. I was discouraged to participate because most of them are there to hear their own voices, those voices that go with their ideology and thinking. They warn and ban anyone who says something different. They do not understand difference of opinion and the right of individuals to make a statement of their own regardless of its strength or weakness, irrespective of its maturity or naivety. They operate with the old Paradigm – Shut up and listen! They are online demagogues who endlessly talk with no regard to the attention and participation of tens of members. I also witnessed abusing individuals and organizations as standard net etiquette. Forgive me for my arrogance but i feel i am more civilized than that and i do not need to discuss with such low and unrefined people.

In the last two years i noticed an increased attack on EPRP. My intuition and experience tells me when people and organizations descend to name calling, character assassination and deliberate falsification they must be faced with insurmountable fear and guilt which they desperately try to overcome. Indeed they are short of novel ideas to show to people. On the other hand the target may have become victorious in many ways in its own right, which in turn leaves its defamers in death-like experience.

My understanding is we all want Democratic Ethiopia firmly established. Here we have two key words – Democratic + Ethiopia. As i understand it Democratic refers to a form of governance where citizens are free to express their views, form associations (EPRP and any organization to come included)and elect their leaders freely (with or without a ballot box).Any democratic jargon less than this unacceptable. All citizens, political and non-political organizations should gauge themselves with this very basic but difficult democratic principle. To deviate from this basic principle has been and will be counterproductive at all levels.
Ethiopia refers to a historical and practical nationhood as opposed to statehood. States come and go. Our imperial state went, Juntas gone and the State of EPRDF will pass whether we like it or not. States come and go while nationhood remain for much much longer than statehood. The Ethiopia we all aspire to should be nothing less than a Democratic one. If this is all we aspire to then I personally do not see any serious issue that pushes us to attack on individuals or organizations. The bottom line is Democratic governance is our priority and we should stand together to ensure Democratic governance is established in our country.

It is human that egos frantically run here and there sometimes even to rule the world. We had our own problem with egos literally tearing down our society, letting the blood of innocent citizens flow on the streets. These egos never felt and will never feel any guilt for that as their egos are bigger than anything and anyone – nationhood included.

Human nature is disappointing as it is very slow to change. It is very disappointing and heart breaking to see that many people and those with political stance have not changed much. It is heart breaking to see our political culture has not changed much despite the noise we make. If we stick to gossip and rumor supported politics surely we are still too far way behind in governance matters. If we lack the conscience to judge our statements and simply say what we feel then we are doomed to failure. If we carry partisan politics too far and think and feel hate surely we are self destructive and we should abstain from politics as we benefit no one.

Let we all aspire to follow a Nelson Mandela Model where the Meisons, EPRPs, Woyanes, Esepas and other political entities work together in the national interest. I commend Meison and EPRP for showing the way of collaborative work.

Despite all what i said, I surely will hand over a democratic Ethiopia to my Children.

  12. if EPRP has left any sanity, it should apologize for killing a generation and then…. commit suicide!!!

  13. Tsehay it should be the other way round if we have a sane mind. It is the killers who should apologize not the victims. I wonder how you would apologize to your torturer and killer. However, it is possible that killers would blame their victims for standing firm while they hold them at a gun point and did not budge.
As I said earlier I was an EPRP member. I was sane at the time and am still sane. I have never heard anyone questioning the sanity of Tesfay Debesay but the sanity of Mengistu Hailemariam and Meles Zenawi.
I assure you the time is coming closer to see who apologizes for what. I finally would like to remind you that your statement is not a sign of sanity and suggest to check on your personality online or offline.
    Ethiopia will overcome

  14. Thank you Neadwasya.

Meles asked the Kinijit leaders to apologize for nearly 200 Ethiopias he ordered to be shot in the streets of AA. Now Tsehay is asking the EPRP to apologize for countless EPRP members and sympathizers killed by the Derg and TPLF. Cannot this tell who Tsehay is? No doubt he is one of those who is scared of democracy and the unity of the Ethiopian people. My sincere advise to Teshay is to join the struggle of the Ethiopia for democrcy, the rule of law and united country before it is too late.

  15. that i abhor the Derg as well as the present regime for all the atrocities goes without saying. at least both of these are declared enemies of the people. but EPRP guys just ask yourself what have you accomplished in >30 yrs?….u can never claim ..meret larashu…that was Derg…in any case what did it bring to the ethiopian poor? …you brought death to the country…you all were kebetbata, chikul and certainly with out intelligence…a fatal combination. and now when people start to do something for the Ethiopian people that you couldn’t do, you are hot with envy…no denying that…true ethipian patriots, offered their life to the people…and what are you doing right now…just talk, talk, talk…30 yr long tongue…
join the peaceful revolution, unlike ur bloodied one, for the sake of the poor…but if you do not want to do that, at least fold up and shut up!!
there are a lot of respected persons in your party…take Hama Tuma…i cannot imagine what a sensible guy like him want to do any thing with you anymore…except perhaps he has developed kinship that even his conscious mind could not extricate…but then 30 yrs of satire must have effeminized him to his core…his beautiful satire has not so far brought any change except perhaps the opportunity to laugh at ourselves…
i was but a child then, but i still recollect images and voices of your atrocities…Two EPRP killers came to a neighbor’s house, a cruel Derg, to kill him and ended up killing eachother…while that idiotic derg guy is still alive to this date…do you now claim to have no responsibility for the physical and psychological destruction of that generation, and subsequently ours..then helina yelachihum malet new…

i belong to no party, but am a nationalist in the deepest sense of the word…

ps…you gave birth to these arawits governing ethiopia today…what could yeawre enat be other than …a bigger one.

  16. Dear Teshay,

To my understanding EPRP’s struggle is not that different from those geniunly struggling for democracy and unity in Ethiopia in a peaceful way. Both are complementary and support each other and there is no problem at all. What we need is to coordinate them better to be more effective. I think, from my readings, this may be one of the things EPRP is trying to do. If you claim supporting the peaceful struggle geniunely, I guess you have every opportunity to work with any other partiotic Ethiopian. But from the way you are exposing yourself through your comments, you do not seem to be so and you rather seem to play a little game of your to create an artifical gap between Ethiopians who love their people and country. To understand better about the EPRP and the struggle of the Ethiopian people, please read the first comment given here by Melkamu. Listen to Finote Democracy radio progarams too. These are highly educational. If you are sincere, you will apologize after being informed.

  17. Dear Tsehay,
I thought over responding to your post and finally i decided to do so taking note of our Ethiopia saying “Qommattan qommatta kalalut gebto yefetefetal”

It does not surprise me you present indefensible argument the more you write. True to the nature of people like you, always back to square one with your position.

I better quote you directly for readers’ sake and i do not want you to blame me of misunderstanding you.# On August 25, 2007 at 3:48 pm tsehay Said:

if EPRP has left any sanity, it should apologize for killing a generation and then…. commit suicide!!!”

Does this mean you feel and believe that EPRP has been insane all the decades since its inception and it has no sanity left? Is this a fair assessment, judgment or perception? How, for heaven sake, could the whole Party be insane for decades??? Are you referring to political insanity???? If that is the case you better point out your argument and the party will have to respond. What i would like to point out here is you are simply wrong by overgeneralizing a Party’s life and function as if it is a one man act. It has been and still remains a Party of thousands and thousands of Ethiopians. Who would you be to say that all those were and still are insane. I tried to indicate to you that there were and still are sane people in the Party but something more than basic reality has overcome you and blinded you. I may deal with you in future posts.

The most irrational statement is the last one where you suggested the Party to commit suicide. Is this a suggestion that comes out of a sound and healthy person who aspires to build a unified and democratic Ethiopia. I must admit it does not sound so but i do not want to repeat myself here.

In your second post you tried to position yourself as an opposition to both Dergue and Weyane. On August 26, 2007 at 7:38 pm you Said:

“that i abhor the Derg as well as the present regime for all the atrocities goes without saying. at least both of these are declared enemies of the people. but EPRP guys just ask yourself what have you accomplished in >30 yrs?….u can never claim ..meret larashu…that was Derg…in any case what did it bring to the ethiopian poor? …you brought death to the country…you all were kebetbata, chikul and certainly with out intelligence…a fatal combination”.

How and why should it go without saying that you abhor Derg and Weyane? What is the evidence. Just a line after that statement you ask what the Party and we the members have done. My dear, we have tried to fulfill our dreams, to materialize our aspirations and surely we have not achieved what we planned for our country. However, we would not be in a questioning chamber where people like you question what we have and have not done while they do not take any single responsibility for themselves, for what they did and are still doing. Let the time come (it is not that far) and let the Ethiopian people judge us and you and your likes. I, for one, have always been answering questions like yours, challenging your think alikes and am not afraid to face them in the open. What have you done for your country any better than we have done??? Tell us or show to our people and they are the ultimate judge. Surely, not egocentric, megalomaniac individuals who are accountable to no one who decide right and wrong.

Is it us who brought death??? This is consistent with you death-wish for EPRP. You blaming those who sacrificed their lives and you are setting free the killers. Well, this is very questionable position you finding yourself in. Please have the courage to admit killers should appear in the Hague for genocide. Scared? There does not seem to be a scape route, i assure you.

Have all party members, the whole party been kebettbatta, chekul and certainly without intelligence? Have you conducted Personality and IQ tests?? That is what i suggested to do for yourself. I do not want to add more on that as many, if not most, of us were mature, intellectual, forward looking.

Obviously, i do not believe in absurd generalizations and i do not want to be trapped into your reactive and immature assumptions.

I can continue responding to every erroneous statement you made but suffice to show your thinking and feeling disorder and emotive appraisal of EPRP, the Party we will die for.

  18. why am i responding to the above? beats me.but am doing it. perhaps yabat wokash mehone dikmet honobigne yihon? or do i think you would reform and be our saviors? perhaps before another century downs on you all, IT JUST IS NOT TOO LATE YOU KNOW. we are not going to argue about me, u only have to take my word for it. am a simple ethiopian professional who was pushed out of the country, i have done and would have continued doing all i could and can, had it not been for your offsprings…the arawitoch back home.
taking responsibility is a measure of magnanimity. so please grow up, or wise up and do so. oh i know you have a very plausible reason, DERG started killing so we responded? or do you deny ‘responding’ in kind at all, but we all know if you were only ”responding”. yadebabay mistiru gin, you started it all. of course who would expect you to measure up to any degree of magnanimity. apologize and be part of the Ethiopian people and their wishes. we all know you have not only messed up Ethiopian politics but also the simple man’s lives and livelihood, either directly or indirectly. what i blame you most is for your continued messing up. and messing up in practice, active involvement with people back home at least would have absolved you of all past transgressions, but no you had to only sit and backstab.
i have enormous respect for all individuals with in the rank and file of your party, by the way. i even idolize some of you, but as a party you stink.
you said i should not generalize, well in this context i did not, cos am accusing of only the party, mind you i admitted the individual brilliance with in your party and would liken it to a night( the party) and beautiful stars with in it…but as a party and as collective consciousness you stink, your hands and legs have been eaten by your TONGUE…and we are well aware of its proficiency….
ps..please do not bother to respond to this…i wish you all a happy prosperous century, if you decide to join it…

  19. There are a lot of people who are otherwise great folks that hate your organization. Yes you and your organization have a right to exist. No you don’t have the right to exist and bring about wholesale slaughter of a generation of Ethiopians. Your existence seems to be predicated on struggle, struggle as long as there is even one person that is not enfranchiced. This begs the question will there ever be a time when you are not needed. Finally your means of struggle revolves around denying others the same rights you strenoulsy and shrilly demand be accorded you. Yet these are the same rights you have abused on behalf of the enemies of Ethiopia, Egypt, Smalia and now Eritrea, you serve.

You have no political integrity, you have not only destroyed a generation but as lackeys of a foreign power you have served as the velvet glove to destroy the best institution we had of uniting agianst foreign
aggression not really because the kings of ethiopia were bad for us but because you wanted to be kings yourself. You behave like petty tyrants in every instance you had a little power(Tigrai, Gojam) so there are no illusions left as to how you would be if you were ever to achieve the unthinkable. So, no, you no longer have any right to exercise your will. Because your way is killing and murder although you take your very victims, our youth and pretend like they died for your ideals, when your ideals are furthest from their noble thinking. So though you denied our country and people the same, RIP EPRP.

    An old Friend
